We are hiring ASAP.
• Island Living requires doing almost everything ourselves. We need people willing to help repair, fix and build almost anything everything. You must enjoy the challenge and learning process.
• Knowledge, wisdom and experience are valued.

Hours are somewhat flexible, and somewhat contingent on weather etc.
What skills do you have or want to develop ? .
Personality and attitude is as important as existing skills.
Work should be fun, challenging and rewarding, and leave time to enjoy this extraordinary vacation destination.
We are creating an exceptional adventure vacation experience housing rentals, Yacht Club and campground.
We need an ABLE BODY workman (or woman), willing to work add play during good weather.
You must be reasonably strong and fit. Any age is welcome. We value the young for their energy, enthusiasm, creativity and curiosity.
We value seniors for their judgment and experience.
We WILL be hiring a permanent “Jack of all Trades”. If you demonstrate construction skills, and a good work ethic, you would have priority consideration for our next permanent hire. Housing is negotiable.
Location
NOTE: Cedar Island is an hour away from “Cedar Point”. Please Google the distance to Cedar Island Zip 28520 before considering this job.
It is likely a long commute. Consider staying on the island for a couple of nights a week. This is vacation land. Beautiful waterfront views and great fishing and boating. Still lovely weather or we are not working. No rat race here. See the photos.
Bring your camper. We have Premium waterfront places to park it. Power, water and sewage are available.
Bring your boat, for recreation or sleep over, we have plenty of dockage, anchorage and fishing, plus a launch ramp.

• Bring you bathing suit (if your modest) We miles have world class abandon beaches and dozens of uninhabited sandy islands.
• Bring your hand tools. I have all the big tools.
• Sailors bring your Kite Boarders or Windsurfer , paddle-board, kayak or anything that floats.
• This is trade wind heaven and one of the great North American fishing and shrimping preserves. Great winds and level seas in Pamlico Sound that is a 30 Mile x 90 miles inland salt ocean.
• Cedar Island is famous for winter duck hunting. US Presidents hunt here. (when not plundering on Martha Vineyard)
• Plan on moving here. I can offer accommodations for starters.

• Cedar Island is called the “gateway to the Outer Banks”.
• I call it “Red Neck Nantucket” in the 1920 (except much better. Less spoiled, more out islands and sub-tropical boating year round. Much more nd affordable too.
• Cedar Island Federal Nature preserve is 20,000 acres.
• There are 100 houses and 300 people on an island the size of Manhattan.
• Wild horse herds roam the beach and deserted island.
• This place is amazing (for the right person).
• You should plan on relocating. We can offer affordable housing options. This is usual for “Vacation Land” jobs on Nantucket or Martha’s Vineyard.

Climate
• 9 Months of “New England Summer Weather
• Winter Average High Temp of 59F in January and February.

• We are right on the Gulf stream. This means Warmer in the winter, cooler on the summer.
• Dozens of small, un-inhabited islands and abandon beaches within 10 Minute boat ride.
• We even have palm trees.
• Year Round boating, kite boarding, fishing, hunting.
Requirements
• You must be, energetic, ingenious, “young at heart” love building and fixing things. Should be a team player who can work and think independently.
• My genius lead mechanic can fix anything, from wiring to the 90,000 lb excavator etc. He is 81 years old and amazingly energetic. I learn from him every day.
• You must love waterfront living, nature and water sports, or you simply have no reason to be here.
• Plan on re-locating. We can discuss housing options.
• If you have big debts, big obligations and need a big paycheck, this is not for you.
• My most successful associates are usually at the beginning or end of their careers and choose lifestyle and enjoyment over the city rat race.
Qualifying for the Job
• Must Have:
• A fun, optimistic and energetic personality.
• Must have Mechanical Aptitude and Good Attitude.
• Must have Good Work Habits. Work Hard and Play hard.
• No Alcoholics, No Drug addicts, no drama, no imbecile phone / Facebook addicts. But scallywagging with rum while enjoying a blazing sunset or raging bon fire, is all good fun.
• But for work, you must be stone sober. Safety first.
• You must speak fluent, intelligible English and be willing to learn professional nomenclature (It is embarrassing I have to say this. If I offended you, the job is not for you).
• If I haven’t scared you off yet, the job might be the right person.

• Trainees $18-20 per hours. Must have mechanical Aptitude for construction trades, painting, spinning bolts and earthworks.
• A Licensed Builder or a Certified Mechanic $25. You can earn more elsewhere, but you are choosing lifestyle. And $25 without deductions is $35 with deductions. Prepare your own tax returns, and take the legitimate business tax deductions you deserve.
• Work as a sub-contractor. Take home your entire pay, without garnishment. You are responsible for yourself. It is still America on Cedar Island.
• If you are proud of what you can do by getting your hands dirty, you are one of us.
